Aims

Deep2 is an emerging network of universities, museums and creative crafts. We are looking for new connections of AI with craft and for this we are developing a long-term set of printed and hand-reworked 3D minilabs, toolkits and jewelry items.

The industrial model with its offer of education, work and social security is threatening to become unbalanced in the face of AI. This prompts us to venture the pilot test of Deep2. We want to try to integrate as much human working time as possible in an economically viable and meaningful way, using as little matter as possible.

We rely on the durable material quality of metal printing to preserve long-term traces of invested craft hours. Intensively reworked whale bones of the seafarers, Netsuke hand carvings and Fabergé eggs are our models for a post-industrial understanding of craftsmanship. We understand them as precious permanent memories of patiently spent time.

e will approach our aims as a game. Games set people free; they encourage risk, strategy and experimentation. They connect, foster community and friendly competition. Games have much in common with mastery, and that connects them to craft. The poker playing card size of 63 x 88 mm suits us perfectly, moving between iPhone and credit card. We put everything on one card!

In the medium term, we want to build our own edition of 52 cards to be released as an annual edition, conveying and leveraging our experiments from the broad field of work between technology and craft. We hope for active participation of creative craftsmen.

We see ourselves more as a network for self-help than as a decentralized company, even though we plan annual editions. We use opensource as a technical basis, because this is where committed participants get involved. Our contributors seek the stimulating campus feeling of shared open discovery work in the creative field, and they enjoy the advantages of a joint and strong presence.
